Our model of volunteer-led, organised neighbourliness helps many hundreds of older people across York keep their independence, feel less lonely, and reduce their isolation.
If you (or someone you know) would like to receive our help, or if you could volunteer to help us keep giving it, please fill in the relevant form below.
Receive help with occasional one-off tasks, regular phone calls, or attend social outings
If you or someone you know lives in York, are over the age of 65, and in need of occasional help with one-off tasks or errands to keep living independently, regular phone calls to feel less lonely, or social outings to feel less isolated, then York Neighbours is here to help.

Please note:
1. There is no charge to join or receive York Neighbours’ services. However we do ask those who can afford it to consider regular or one-off donations to help cover our costs.
2. As a volunteer-led service, we ask for understanding that some requests for help with one-off tasks or errands may involve waiting for somebody to become available.
3. While our volunteers are usually able to help with most things, this depends on their availability. This means we cannot guarantee to meet every request, but we will always try to advise on alternative options in these circumstances.
Volunteer to help with any of the above and more
Supported by a small staff team behind the scenes, what York Neighbours does works thanks to lots of York residents, from all walks of life, volunteering to help when they can.
This is mostly through help with one-off tasks and errands, regular check-in and chat phone calls, and supporting our social outings. We also support hours for course-related placements, and always need help with events and activities to build vital support and funds for our work.
How much our volunteers do, and what they do, is completely up to them and easy to change with their circumstances.
